أبجدية السحتن | Sahtan alphabet [digital download]
تم العثور على أبجدية “السحتن” مؤخرًا في وادي السحتان في سلطنة عمان ، وكان هذا الموقع طريقًا قديمًا للقوافل القادمة من خليج عمان أو المحيط الهندي باتجاه المناطق الداخلية لسلطنة عمان.
تأتي تسمية “سحتان” من الوادي حيث وجدت تلك الكتابات ، رغم حداثة الإكتشاف ، فإنه يستخدم العديد من الأبجديات الصوتية التي كانت تستخدم في عمان القديمة (على نفس نظام الأبجدية العربية القديمة في المنطقة). نظرًا لاكتشافها الحديث وحدوثها النادرة ، ثبت أنه من الصعب تحديد عمر الأبجدية ، إلا بمقارنتها بأبجديات أخرى من المنطقة بين الألفية الثالثة والألفية الأولى قبل الميلاد.
تطوعت لإنشاء خط أساسي بسيط يمكن أن يساعد الباحثين بشكل عام في استخدامه في تنسيق رقمي. هذه نسخة نموذجية لا تزال تتطلب الكثير من العمل. يُطلق على الخط اسم “هلهل” في إشارة إلى أقرب قرية عثر فيها الباحث “حارث سيف الخروصي” على هذه الأبجدية.
The ‘Sahtan’ alphabet was recently found in Wadi Al-Sahtan in the Sultanate of Oman, this site was an ancient route for caravans coming from the Gulf of Oman or the Indian Ocean towards the interior regions of Oman.
The naming of ‘Sahtan’ comes from the valley of where those writings were found, while the writing system is new, it uses many phonological alphabets that was used in ancient Oman (based on the same system of ancient arabic aphabets in the region). Due to its recent discovery and rare occurrences, it proved difficult to age of the alphabet, except by comparing it to other alphabets from the region between the third millennium to the first millennium BC.
I volunteered on creating a simple basic font that could publicaly help researchers in using it in digital format. This is a prototype version that still requires many . The font is called ‘Halhal’ in reference to the nearest village where this specific alphabet was found by the researcher Harith Saif al Kharousi (@harithoman).
